One down, two to go! I passed my first national examination, called the ABO (American Board of Opticiary) which was a national test about glasses: how they work, how to interpret prescriptions, how to fit someone for the correct frame and lenses, and how to fix common problems when someone gets a new pair of glasses and they aren't working the way they think they should. I studied for nearly 5 months and it paid off. I needed a score of 70 to pass, and I got a 79!
The next test is the NCLE, which is the National Contact Lens Examination. I'm not sure when I'm going to take it as I want to take a break from studying for a bit. The final exam is the Washington State Board Examination, which I am required to pass by Sept. 2012 (the end of my apprenticeship) or else I will need to find a new occupation (or move to a non-license state such as Oregon, which I already have all I need to stay employed there...they require only the ABO.) I plan to pass my exams, but obviously wanted to see what options I have if I don't. Washington has the hardest state boards in the country.
Today, Julie and I finally purchased a Wii. I am exhausted after playing for nearly 2 hours. I did it all....bowling, tennis, baseball, golf, and boxing. We only have the sports package that came with the console, but it's gonna keep us alot more active. It isn't just pushing a few buttons, you have to MOVE to play. My living room is a little small though....
Hope everyone is doing well.
